I am inspired and touched by the efforts Kathy Ford (one of colleague who is 55 years old) is taking to raise awareness about cancer. She is going on a new adventure - the Million Dollar Marathon, a coast-to-coast run
across America benefiting Above + Beyond Cancer.

I thought this is amazing a 55 year old lady is doing so much for the community and going to run a full marathon.
And looking at me I am 33 years old and can not run for 1 mile. This has opened my eyes big time, and I have convinced myself to get in shape at least to support my family.
I wish all the very best to Kathy Ford and she is in training right now. Running at least 4 to 5 miles everyday and I make sure that I like her Run everyday on facebook. Her activities can be tracked at,

Anshul - you are so kind! I started running four years ago...I had been 60 pounds overweight and had lost 25 or so...but the last pounds wouldn't budge. I started walking, but I got bored. I thought, well, if I run a little bit, I'll get done faster! HA! Then in order to get an hour of a work-out, you need to do more miles! Pretty soon I was running a lap..then walking a lap...then two laps.
ReplyDeleteThat year I decided to run the Komen Race for the Cure 5k rather than walk the mile. After that race, my husband asked if I had it out of my system (having completed a race). Nope - I was hooked!
Keep it up! If you're out there walking, running, it doesn't matter. Keep moving!

Oh, and the 60 pounds? They're gone now! :)
ReplyDeleteAwesome Kathy !! Thank you very much for your advice. I will continue this now forever....this is a lifestyle change for me and not an exercise routine.....I just want to keep me fit !! I will tell you my story when we will meet.....
